October is Rotary International Community Economic Development Month. The Golden Valley Rotary Club celebrates by naming a local Business of the Year to honor. The 2024 selection is Lunds & Byerlys Golden Valley.

The Golden Valley Rotary Club recognized Lunds & Byerlys Golden Valley as its 2024 “Business of the Year" on Tuesday, October 29th. The annual award goes to a Golden Valley business that shares the Rotary Club’s values of “service above self.” In addition to being a successful business, Lunds & Byerlys Golden Valley helps local events and organizations through donations of food, water, and gift cards. The store also exercises diverse hiring practices. “It’s pretty cool to be recognized for something that we try to do every day and make an impact and make a difference. It is pretty spectacular,” said Todd Moffitt, general manager of the Lunds & Byerlys Golden Valley.

Paul P. Harris, an attorney, formed the world’s first service club, the Rotary Club of Chicago, in 1905. The Rotary name derived from the early practice of rotating meetings among members' offices.

Today, business remains an integral part of any Rotary Club. The members of Rotary are identified by vocation on their nametags and members participate in vocational service activities, including tours of businesses and regular speakers from the business and charitable organization communities. October is "Economic and Community Development Month" for the Rotary International calendar. The Golden Valley Rotary Club celebrates by naming a local Business of the Year to honor.
