Dean Penk is a founding member and current chairperson of the Golden Valley Community Foundation, established in 2011. Until 2016, his professional work life was as a sales person and manager of various entities engaged in food packaging for products distributed throughout the world. In 1999-2000 he was a volunteer to USAID as a business consultant to startup food manufacturing businesses in the Republic of Armenia. While an undergrad student at U of MN - Morris, Dean led liberal arts programming teams for student activities. Dean was a member of the UM-Morris Alumni Board and is a past vice president. He served on Golden Valley’s Brookview’s Golf Improvement Committee in the 1990s, the Golden Valley Envision Connection Project Board of Directors til 2012, and the Brookview Community Center Task Force in 2016. Dean’s volunteer spirit and his support of community continues as evidenced by his leadership as board chair and acting executive director of the Foundation since 2011. A resident of Golden Valley since 1986, his wife Julie and he have raised multiple 4-legged kids. In his personal life, Dean is engaged in multiple activities including golf, gardening, landscaping, home design and renovation, travel, and volunteering for the Golden Valley Market in the Valley farmers market.
