MN State Representative Patty Acomb was born in Minnetonka, and has lived in the West Metro for more than 40 years. She graduated from Hopkins High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in natural resource management from the University of Minnesota. After college, Acomb worked for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in northwestern Minnesota in a variety of capacities, and then for Hennepin County Environmental Services. She has been married to husband Craig for 23 years and they have two sons, Jack and Charlie, who are attending Macalester College and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

Rep. Acomb was elected to an at-large Minnetonka City Council seat in 2012, and served until 2018, when District 44B (Minnetonka, Plymouth, and Woodland) sent her to represent them in the State Legislature. She also was an active member of a number of local boards and committees, including initiatives affiliated with both the Hopkins and Minnetonka school districts, local nonprofits, and environmental organizations. In addition, Acomb has represented her community's interests on policy committees at the regional, state, and national levels, including an appointment by Governor Mark Dayton to the governing body of the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources.
