Marianna Khauv, District 5950 Governor
The 2021-2022 Rotary Year

A member of the Monticello Rotary Club since 1994, Marianna Khauv has long been putting service above self. Marianna has served as the club's secretary, international service chair, and president. Additionally, she served as a member of the District Grant Committee from 2013-2019 and as Rotary District 5950 Area 13 assistant governor from 2016 to 2019.

Marianna was born in Taiwan and immigrated to the United States with her parents at age thirteen. She did not speak English and was amazed by the new culture and environment, especially snow and below zero temperatures!

Marianna and her husband, Onn, have called Monticello home since 1991. Not only have they raised their three daughters, Malinda, Amanda, and Olivia, in Monticello, they have also been business owners in the community. With the success of their restaurant and hotel businesses, they soon started finding ways to volunteer to give back to their growing and supportive community. Marianna's theme as the chair of Monticello Chamber of Commerce in 1999 was “U” and “I” working in “Unity” for a better “CommUnIty.” This has also been Marianna’s approach to Rotary, both locally and globally.

Together, with the help from the Rotary Clubs of Alexandria, Buffalo, St. Michael & Albertville, and Monticello, Marianna was able to build a total of three libraries for schools in rural villages of Cambodia where there is no running water or electricity. To Marianna, this is a true testimony of the power and potential of people working together, of Rotary!
